About

My entire life is about reinvention, having many different and exciting experiences, then discovering more! A word that holds tremendous meaning for me right now is a simple one but completely describes my journey, and that is, Pivot. You can strategize, exercise, apologize and even anthropomorphize all you want, but universe/god will laugh and spit in your eye at the best laid plans then throw you a curve ball almost every time. And you’d better be able to pivot.

I am currently in Central America and have been living a life beyond my wildest dreams here since August 2023, soon to return to the US. This experience has not only allowed me to be creative and present in my personal writing but has allowed me to connect with other cultures, locals, and travelers that I would never have met without this walkabout journey. Maybe most powerful of all, is the connection to nature, in this magical corner of the globe.

I had the opportunity to take a huge leap and leave corporate America to explore this part of the world and focus on my writing. I’ve done this in the form of a blog, while working in the background on additional facets to this, and a new manuscript. I will return home with the rough draft of these tales which are an example of the empowerment of a woman who dared to be brave. I was living on an island in Belize then continued south, exploring northern Panama and Costa Rica, where I temporarily reside. I plan to finish my Central American tour (Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua) in the following weeks before heading back to the US. (https://pixieinparadise.com/)

In another life (20 years ago), I was a respiratory therapist for 15 years. My first clinical rotation was witnessing – and treating – patients during the aftermath in the following days/weeks, of the Oklahoma City Bombing, April 19, 1995. This medical experience combined with that traumatic day is also what led me to teach yoga for first responders. For seven years I’ve been a certified/registered yoga instructor and for the last five I’ve been teaching yoga for the local police department and occasionally for an organization that serves combat veterans. I was the proud and exhausted guardian of five rescued chihuahuas, a Great Pyrenees/Siberian Husky mix and a three-legged cat. Surviving family members are, the cat and an ex-husband. There’s an ancient manuscript in the hopper solely dedicated to the nonsense of running a household with that many furry butts and personalities in it for almost two decades. Stay tuned!
